Comprehensive Eye Exam

At Vision Associates, P.C., you receive a quality and thorough eye exam which are very important to your complete physical health assessment.  You’ll never feel rushed, or that you are just another set of eyes, and all your questions will be answered. Eye examinations are available for your entire family from infant to great grandparent. The examination process will assess both your visual performance, and the health of your eyes and visual system. Your overall health will also be assessed as many conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, and elevated cholesterol can affect your vision and ocular health.

We are in practice to provide the highest patient satisfaction and safety, and as such, are committed to providing the latest technology in instrumentation to address all of your eye care needs.

Ocular Disease and Injury

All of our doctors are National and State Board Certified. As such, they are able to treat diseases of the eye such as conjunctivitis (pink eye), dry eye syndrome, ocular allergies, contact lens infections, and ocular injuries such as abrasions and foreign bodies. In addition, we are able to assess and monitor for the presence of cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy, treating and managing as necessary.

Contact Lenses

Freedom from glasses has become easier, more comfortable, and more affordable with the advent of new contact lenses, cleaning solutions, and fitting techniques. At Vision Associates, we do not turn away from the hard-to-fit contact lens patient.  In fact, we're known for turning contact lens failures into contact lens successes.

Our office has the latest in contact lenses available such as silicone hydrogel, rigid gas permeable, lenses for astigmatism, bifocal lenses, and colored lenses. We also fit specialty lenses for our dry eye, post LASIK, and keratoconic patients.

If you have seasonal allergies, then you know the difficulties of living in Michigan and wearing contact lenses. New lens materials and ophthalmic medications have made it possible for comfortable, clear, and safe contact lens wear even during peak pollen and mold seasons.

Drs. Poggiolo have vast experience and maintain the latest in continuing education to insure that your contact lenses provide clear, healthy vision for your eyes.

LASIK

Laser vision corrective surgery is one of the most popular options to see clearly without the use of glasses or contact lenses. LASIK eye surgery can treat myopia and astigmatism most often with outstanding results.

Just as with all elective surgeries the decision to have laser corrective surgery should be made on an informed basis weighing all of the advantages, disadvantages, and potential risks.

We have a long history of co-managing refractive surgery and can help you make the correct decision for your individual case.

If you are interested in this procedure, our office is a great place to find out if you are a candidate for seeing clearly without glasses or contacts.

OrthoKeratology

OrthoKeratology is a non-surgical procedure using specially-designed contact lenses (OK lenses)to reshape the cornea to reduce or correct nearsightedness and astigmatism.

In some ways, this is similar to the use of dental braces by an orthodontist to straighten a patient’s teeth. After your teeth have been straightened, a retainer is fit to keep the teeth in their newly formed shape.

Similarly, with the OK lenses, a nightwear contact lens retainer is used to maintain the newly shaped cornea.

These retainer lenses are typically worn while you sleep giving you the freedom from glasses or contact lenses during all of your waking hours.
